Signs Your Pet is Having an Emergency
Pet emergencies manifest in all kinds of ways, and the key is to act quickly to get your pet the care they need. The following situations are considered emergencies and should be addressed by a veterinarian immediately:
- Difficulty breathing
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- Trauma from a fall or collision
- Sustained bite wounds from an animal attack
- Puncture wounds, lacerations, or burns
- Possible broken bones
- Collapse and/or loss of consciousness
- Appears disoriented, confused, and lethargic
- Vomiting/diarrhea for 24 hours or more
- Not eating/drinking for 24 hours or more
- Had or is having seizures
- Gums are pale
- Injuries to one or both eyes
- Pregnant and struggling to deliver puppies/kittens
- Struggling to eliminate
- Ingested a poisonous substance
